While it is completely normal for all of us to feel "down" at times, depression is a more serious set of symptoms that can have an impact on your ability to function. Depression includes a number of clinical diagnoses, and are mood disorders that affects how you feel, think, and act. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, and can be short-term, or chronic and recurrent. Depression can also cause physical symptoms, such as stomach pain, headaches, changes in sleep patterns, and low energy. While the exact cause of depression is unknown, it can run in families, and can also be triggered by trauma and adverse life circumstances.

Experiencing anxiety is also a normal part of life for all of us. However, sometimes anxiety can become severe enough to impact on your daily life. Sometimes, depression and anxiety often occur simultaneously, and can exacerbate each other.
